Ian Wright expressed his shock at the speed shown by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane whilst on international duty with England, as he told Wrighty’s House Podcast.

The Premier League legend was expressing his frustration at England’s latest matches and how he wants Gareth Southgate to lets players like Kane ‘cook’.

England suffered a 1-0 defeat in Italy last Friday, which relegated them from their UEFA Nations League group, before they recorded a 3-3 draw against Germany at Wembley on Monday.

Kane scored from the spot-kick during that game to take his tally for the Three Lions to 51 goals, as he edges ever closer to Wayne Rooney’s all-time record of 53.

It would be fitting if that historical and momentous moment comes at the World Cup itself, with the 29-year-old producing top performances during his last two major tournament outings.

Nonetheless, whilst Wright urged Southgate to get more out of the attacking talent he has at his disposal, he also mentioned the speed in which Kane showcased.

“This is what I said, let them free,” said Wright. “Let them cook. Give them some food – Did you see Harry Kane showing pace as well?

“Gareth’s getting stick and he’s got us to a semi-final of a World Cup and he has got us to a final of the Euros. And we have got there and he’s still getting hammered.

“Then you think to yourself ‘why don’t you just let your shackles off?’ Let them play! Why are we passing backwards and sideways, when we can pass it into them?!”

WILL KANE COOK IN THE NORTH LONDON DERBY?

The top-scorer in north London derby history will take centre stage on Saturday when he is tasked with trying to dethrone Arsenal from the top of the Premier League table.

Tottenham will make the short trip to the Emirates hoping to maintain their unbeaten start to the league, and with it, win on their rival’s turf and go top of the tree themselves.

Kane has 13 goals to his name in this fixture and he has previously cooked up some special moments for his side.

Another magical moment at the weekend will only continue to grow his legacy with the Spurs fans, as Antonio Conte tries to push the club to a much-needed trophy.
