Aston Villa drew 2-2 at home to Preston North End on Saturday, having been 2-0 up at half time.
Aston Villa hero Ian Taylor has taken to Twitter after the club’s disappointing 2-2 home draw with Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.
Villa were hoping to bounce from a dismal 1-0 defeat at Wolverhampton Wanderers with a win against Preston, and with new signing Henri Lansbury in the side following his move from Nottingham Forest, Villa fans went into the game with some optimism.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce’s men were well on top in the first half, as Albert Adomah tapped home from close range after Gabriel Agbonlahor had stabbed the ball past North End goalkeeper Chris Maxwell, and Adomah made it two from the penalty spot having been dubiously fouled by Aiden McGeady.
Villa were cruising at 2-0 up, but Preston came out firing in the second half and gave themselves a lifeline when Jordan Hugill picked the ball up on the halfway line and drove through the Villa team before firing into the top corner, and Hugill grabbed the equaliser by heading home McGeady’s cross.

In a true game of two halves, Villa will be gutted to have thrown away a 2-0 lead at home, and they’re still yet to win a league game in 2017 after two defeats and a draw in the Championship.
Villa sit nine points off the play-offs, and a top six finish is now looking like a distant dream based on recent displays, with club hero Ian Taylor clearly disappointed after the final whistle on Saturday.
Taylor took to Twitter to state that Villa let themselves down with their second half collapse, suggesting that Bruce’s men should be able to close the game out at 2-0 up.
Taylor did though praise the tributes to former manager Graham Taylor, as fans marked the passing of the former Villa boss throughout Saturday’s game.
