Samuel Chukwueze has stated on Instagram ‘let me grab my popcorn’ after his Villarreal teammate Arnaut Danjuma finally secured a move to Everton.
Back in January, there was talk of the 26-year-old joining Everton. Near-on everything had been agreed, other than signing on that dotted line, before Tottenham, still in the Champions League, came knocking.
In the end, Arnaut Danjuma moved to Spurs, but he hardly played, and now, this summer, he is back to square one, and this time, he has accepted Everton’s offer.
Perhaps when the Toffees announced his arrival, they should have just used everything they put together in January, because that’s how close it was.
But, in Everton’s situation, whilst they would have felt disrespected by Danjuma’s actions in the winter, they had no choice but to go down this road because of their financial struggles.
Either way, when Danjuma reacted on Instagram to his loan deal, it drew a response from a number of players in the comments section, including a brilliant message from Samuel Chukwueze.
“Danju magic,” wrote Chukwueze. “Let me grab my popcorn.”
Brilliant deal for Everton
Danjuma didn’t get enough minutes at Spurs, but he will get more than enough at Goodison Park and for an Everton side that needs lifting.
It was another season of struggle, a manager getting sacked and a relegation fight until the end.
They need to try and avoid all of that, and given the magic Danjuma can produce with the ball at his feet, then his individual quality will be needed on a number of occasions this season.
