Westwood has been named Sheffield Wednesday player of the year in two of his three full seasons at Hillsborough.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters are discussing the prospect of cashing in on one of the Owls’ key players in recent years after the emergence of his understudy.
Joe Wildsmith has not had many opportunities to step out of Keiren Westwood’s shadow since his initial breakthrough in late 2015.
Indeed, between mid-January 2016 and December 2017 Wildsmith appeared on just nine occasions for the club he grew up supporting and whose academy developed him.

But the 22-year-old is currently enjoying his longest run in Sheffield Wednesday’s starting 11, which should be extended to eight matches against Carlisle United on Tuesday.
If Wildsmith’s recent performances are anything to go by, Westwood is fighting a losing battle to regain his place once fit again.

And some Owls fans feel a more severe fate could await the Irishman, who has been named player of the year in two of his three full seasons at Hillsborough and was the subject of interest from Middlesbrough last summer.
Here’s what they’re saying on Twitter…
