Columnist Jake Lane believes the former Chelsea boss should be the FA’s number one target if England want guaranteed success this summer.
What Hiddink achieved whilst in charge of Chelsea in 2009 shows he can be master of the short-term.
He also has a good tournament record, just look what he did with South Korea and Russia in 2002 and 2008 respectively.
As we are all aware, the overwhelming favourite for the job is Harry Redknapp but I think we should let him finish Spurs’ best ever season in the Premier League then let him start the role after the Euros and in time for the World Cup Qualifiers.
Redknapp will have a plan and giving him the job after the Championships in Poland and Ukraine will give him enough time to put this plan into action as we start the road to Brazil 2014.
Give him the job now and it will be too early and with what would be a lack of preparation I can see the whole thing ending in disaster!
