Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Derby confirmed that the Reds had signed their promising young prospect Kaide Gordon.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the deal is worth an initial £1 million, and could rise to £3 million if certain add-ons are met.

The Liverpool Echo add that the Reds beat Manchester United and Tottenham to the 16-year-old’s services.

Furthermore, the teenager has been likened to Mohamed Salah by Derby academy expert Jack Hasler.

He is quoted by the Liverpool Echo as saying: “If he was to bulk up a bit, he could, in terms of a Liverpool player, be similar to Mohamed Salah in that he has that left foot that is really special.”

This seems like a real coup for Jurgen Klopp’s side, as they look to continue building a side for the future after the arrivals of Harvey Elliott, Sepp van den Berg and others.

Gordon is Derby’s reigning Academy Player of the Year, and is also an England youth international who already has Championship experience.

Wayne Rooney substituted the forward onto the pitch towards the end of December’s 4-0 win over Birmingham.

As a result, Gordon became the fourth-youngest player in Derby’s history.

With him on one wing and Elliott on the other, Liverpool could already have their next Salah and Sadio Mane.
