Lescott reacts to West Brom award, stats prove City should’ve kept him

The Baggies defender was voted the club’s player of the year. Will Manchester City regret letting him go?

Joleon Lescott has had the odd bad game for West Brom this season. On the whole, however, the 32-year-old has been a solid performer for the Midlands club.

That’s exactly why the veteran was voted the Baggies’ player of the year – and an ‘honoured’ Lescott reacted on Twitter on Friday afternoon.

And the former Manchester City defender certainly deserves his award.

As Opta stats show, Lescott has made more clearances than any other West Brom player in the Premier League this season, with the same going for his interceptions.

The 32-year-old has also won 44 tackles and dominated in the air, playing more minutes than a lot of his team-mates.

Will Manchester City regret letting the veteran go? The decision to bring in big-money summer signing Eliaquim Mangala and let Lescott go for free may not look so wise now…
