Joleon Lescott has told The Football Show that Everton’s players have said that they are desperate to stop Liverpool winning the league at Goodison Park.

If Manchester City don’t win against Arsenal, Liverpool can seal the Premier League title with three points against Everton in just over a week.

Lescott suggests that he has spoken to Everton’s squad about that possibility, and the Toffees players are determined to stop it happening.

“For that to happen at Goodison would be the worst possible outcome for Everton players and fans,” he said.

“Having spoken to players and fans throughout the season, their sole goal was not for Liverpool to win the league in general, but for it to happen at Goodison is not going to be great for that football club.”

Liverpool will find out whether winning the league at Goodison Park will be possible next Wednesday.

City go into their game against Arsenal as favourites, but it is a potential banana skin of a game, especially after such a long break.

Even if Liverpool aren’t able to win the Premier League title at Goodison Park, it is surely only a matter of time before their place at the top is confirmed.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are 25 points clear of their nearest rivals, with just nine games left to play this season.
