Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in the January transfer window.
Southampton executive director Les Reed has told The Telegraph that Virgil van Dijk will not be sold in the January transfer window.
According to The Telegraph, Everton, Manchester United, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in signing Van Dijk from Southampton this month.
The Daily Star has credited Merseyside outfit Liverpool with an interest in the Netherlands international.
Van Dijk has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old centre-back is playing well for the Saints at the moment and has shown enough quality to play for a top-six team in the Premier League.
Southampton executive director Reed, though, has made it clear that the former Celtic star is not for sale.
“Virgil is not for the sale,” Reed told The Telegraph. “We haven’t had any bids and if we got any bids, we wouldn’t consider them because it just doesn’t make sense to think we would release Virgil van Dijk in midseason when we have all still to play for.”
According to The Telegraph, Southampton value Van Dijk in excess of £50 million.
While Reed seems adamant about the future of the defender, would the Saints be able to resist if a big-money offer came in?
