Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Les Ferdinand is convinced that Harry Kane will not leave the club this summer.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has recently said in an interview that if he had to buy one striker, he would go for Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.
The Italian has hailed the England striker as one of the best strikers in the world and a complete player. However, he admits that Kane would cost around £100 million.
“If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. But, if you go to buy Kane now, it would be at least £100million,” said Conte, as quoted by talksport.
We often see managers praising players of other clubs, but it takes a whole new dimension when considering those were said during the on-going summer transfer window.
Kane signed a new contract extension last December and will remain at the club till 2022. However, there is bound to be interest from other heavyweight European clubs, given Kane’s age and quality.
Given the current madness of the transfer window, there is every possibility that Spurs may receive a tempting offer for Kane.
Les Ferdinand, the former Tottenham striker and a Premier League cult-hero, is absolutely convinced that Kane will not leave the north London club this summer, or in the near future.
He feels that Spurs are in good hands under Mauricio Pochettino, and that they are very competitive in the top four.
“Harry is definitely Tottenham through and through,” the former Spurs striker told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“I don’t see him going anywhere, I think he’ll be at Tottenham for another couple of years at least. Of course he wants to win things, every player does in his career, but he’s at a place where he believes he can do that.
“They have the right manager in place and they are very competitive in that top four. Last season they finished second in the league and I think the squad is improving all the time.”
