Les Ferdinand has revealed that he would recommend life at Newcastle United to Eberechi Eze – providing the Magpies match their former player’s valuation for him.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle want to sign the QPR attacker this summer.

And with Ferdinand – who spent two excellent years at St James’s Park until 1997 – being a Director of Football at Loftus Road these days, United have a connection there.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder is worth £20 million to the London club [Goal.com] and Ferdinand has told Newcastle Fan TV that he’d give Eze a ‘glowing report’ about life at the North-East side, if they put their money where their mouth is.

Ferdinand said: “If you pay enough money for him, you can get him to come! I’ll be giving him a glowing report in terms of what it’s like up there.

“It’s a great place to go and play football but as long as you lot match our asking price, you can have him no problem!

“People have been asking me about him, even the club said lots of people are talking about him, and I said he’s probably in the top six players I’ve seen.”

What a coup this would be for Newcastle.

They’re reportedly competing with Tottenham Hotspur for his signature – another of Ferdinand’s clubs – and pipping Spurs would be one hell of an endorsement.

On paper, Tottenham are a bigger club and lord knows they have a lot more world-class talent than Newcastle, but if Saudi Public Investment Fund complete their £300 million takeover then Tyneside could be the place to be.
