Tottenham Hotspur may have suffered a heavy defeat to Newcastle United this past weekend, but that cannot detract from the fact that Ange Postecoglou’s side are having a very good season.

Yes, Aston Villa are fourth in the Premier League table now, but we still have a few weeks left in the season.

Tottenham Hotspur could still end up fourth and qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou has played brilliant football and has given a lot of joy to the fans.

What is also remarkable is that Tottenham are playing well and being successful without Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023.

Former Tottenham star Les Ferdinand has outlined the importance of one particular Spurs player in the current team.

Ferdinand has noted how Son Heung-min has stepped up his game in the absence of Kane and has got better.

The £197,000-a-week (SalarySport) South Korea international forward has scored 15 goals and given nine assists in 28 starts and one substitute appearance in the Premier League for Tottenham this season.

Les Ferdinand makes observation on Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min

Ferdinand said about Son on PremierLeagueProductions: “Son has stepped up to the plate this season. Harry kane left, and yet they have scored more goals this season without him. Son has gone from strength to strength.

“The difference that Postecoglou has brought from last year is night and day, playing on the front foot and being aggressive and attacking.”

Tottenham Hotspur fans should stay positive

Tottenham Hotspur were hammered by Newcastle United this past weekend, but I still think that the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful should be optimistic about the team getting into the top four.

Yes, there are some tough games coming up, but Tottenham have shown this season that they can be a match for any team.

Perhaps Spurs could be a bit more pragmatic in defence during matches, especially when they are in the lead.
