Les Ferdinand has claimed that Harry Kane will be ‘upset’ that he didn’t score during Tottenham’s 5-1 win over Newcastle United on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (03/04/22 at 7:00 pm).
That’s the ‘making of the man’ added the former striker, who would have been in many similar situations as Kane during his goalscoring days.
To think Tottenham hit their opponents for five yesterday, yet their star striker didn’t find the back of the net is actually impressive.
From the perspective of Antonio Conte, it proves that there is more quality and depth in the team than others think.
But for someone like Kane (12 PL goals), who will still feel he can catch Liverpool’s Mo Salah (20) for the Golden Boot, he might have mixed feelings, which was touched upon by Ferdinand.
“We spoke about it before the game,” said Ferdinand. “The thing about Harry, if Tottenham win 3-0, and he hasn’t scored, as much as he is delighted for the team. He will be upset when he goes home.
“As much as he has created chances for people to score against Newcastle, he will be upset that he hasn’t scored. And that’s the making of the man.
“That’s why he is such a good goalscorer because he always wants to score goals.”

Kane might not be scoring the goals yesterday, but he was still walking away with the Man of the Match award.
Not many strikers, if anyone, can drop deep like the England captain and ping balls all across the pitch like he has a Playstation controller in hand.
It’s just quite a ridiculous passing range from the Premier League’s fifth top-scorer since 1992.
To think the likes of Kevin de Bruyne are going to be purring over how he finds space, has the vision to see a pass and then executes it to perfection just shows how highly Kane is valued as a player.
