Queens Park Rangers drew 1-1 with Huddersfield Town earlier in the season.
Les Ferdinand has admitted to the London Evening Standard that he wasn’t happy with the way Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink approached Queens Park Rangers’ match against Huddersfield Town.
QPR managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Huddersfield, but they were fortunate to grab a point in a match where they were largely dominated.
Rangers’ performance in the contest was worrying, but Ferdinand insists that display is the only blot on Hasselbaink’s copy book, as things stand – despite the Dutchman’s failure to win any of his first six matches.
“Obviously you hope any manager hits the ground running but we still feel we have the right man to take the club forward,” he said.
“Being 11 points off [the play-offs] doesn’t rule anything out because clubs have still gone runs to win promotion.
“There are still 21 games to go and a lot of points to play for. Barring Huddersfield [when they drew 1-1], everyone has been pleased with the way the team have approached matches since Jimmy arrived.”
Hasselbaink inherited QPR at a point where they appeared to be moving in an upwards direction, but their momentum has been halted by their poor sequence of recent results.
QPR have slipped all the way down to 16th place and despite Ferdinand’s positivity, their chances of being promoted look very slim.
Hasselbaink looks set to be given time at Loftus Road though, and there is reason to believe that he can turn things around.
The former Chelsea striker did a brilliant job at Burton Albion, in his first managerial role in England, and he will be hoping to be similarly successful once QPR’s players have fully adapted to his methods.
