Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman is convinced that the Toffees can finish above Liverpool in the upcoming Premier League campaign.
Osman, 36, started his youth career with Everton, and made his senior debut for the Toffees in 2000. He made over 430 appearances for the club and scored 57 goals in all competitions.
During his time at the club, Everton finished above Liverpool on three League campaigns. Osman believes that Everton can challenge the Reds at being Merseyside’s best club once more.

Everton have been extremely busy in the summer transfer, and have signed some very good players.
Despite top scorer Romelu Lukaku leaving the club to join Manchester United this summer and Ross Barkley likely to follow the exit door as well, Ronald Koeman has made sure that the club go into the next season with a positive frame of mind.
On paper, Everton are giving the impression of a very strong team that can challenge for top four. Ahead of the new campaign, Osman believes that a top six finish and any kind of silverware should be the aim for Everton.
“Absolutely. The divide isn’t that big with regard to the league,” said Osman, when asked on BBC Radio 5 live if Everton could finish above Liverpool in the 2017/18 campaign (h/t The Liverpool Echo)
“I think Everton seem to be not capable of beating Liverpool enough times when it’s head to head. But over the course of the season points-wise there isn’t much in it.
“A top six and improving is the aim and any kind of silverware. Everton have waited a long time. They say you get the first one and more will follow. Everton are desperate for that at the moment.”
