Tottenham Hotspur returned to winning ways after two disappointing results against Chelsea and Burnley with a convincing 3-0 win against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.

Harry Kane scored twice and Christian Eriksen added another to seal full three points for the visitors. With those two goals, Kane scored his 100th goal for the club, and became the 17th player to do so.

Everton kept things tight in the opening 25 minutes, but Spurs dominated the proceedings once they broke the deadlock through Kane in the 28th minute.

Ronald Koeman, the Everton boss, admitted after the match that they had no answer to Spurs’ diamond midfield, and that his team lacked confidence.

Former Everton player and now BBC pundit, Leon Osman said that Spurs have been just a cut above Everton in every department. He was impressed by the manner they worked together as a team.

He further added that Tottenham should be considered title contenders after this performance. He says all Spurs now need is a victory at Wembley to get things going.

Tottenham have moved to fifth in the Premier League with that win. Spurs face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League at Wembley on Wednesday in their next match.

“It’s not been through a lack of effort from Everton but Spurs have been just a cut above. Tottenham certainly should be considered title contenders after that performance,” said Osman on BBC Radio 5 (BBC Live blog; 16:55 pm).

“They just need to get that victory at Wembley and they will be on their way.”

Osman also showered praise on Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko. The Frenchman has struggled to make an impact at the north London club, but he did well against Everton to earn plaudits of the pundit and his manager as well.

“Moussa Sissoko has made such a massive difference today because the runs he’s made from deep have caused a real problem for Everton.”
