Everton will be looking to strengthen their squad before the transfer window slams shut.

Leon Osman was a guest on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme on Monday January 29th, and highlighted the position where his former club Everton need to strengthen before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday.

The Toffees currently sit in ninth position in the Premier League table, although they are a distant 14 points adrift of the top six, and it is clearly evident that Sam Allardyce needs to bolster his ranks at Goodison Park further still.

Sam Allardyce looks on from the stand during the Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on November 29, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

One particular area that will be a concern for the 63-year-old is his defensive department, with the likes of Phil Jagielka, Ashely Williams and Leighton Baines already well into the twilight years of their respective careers.

Osman, who made 432 appearances for the Blues, certainly believes that Allardyce needs to add to his defensive options before the window closes on Wednesday.

He was a guest on Sky Sports’ Premier League Daily programme on Monday January 28th, and explained why Allardyce should be targeting a new left-back:

“I think Everton really need a left-back. The fact that Leighton Baines has been injured for two months now it’s really showed the glaring hole they have at left-back. With no disrespect to him, he’s not going to be around for ever. I think the time has come to find a back-up certainly.”

With just two days remaining until the window slams shut, Everton will need to get down to business, and fast, if they want to bring any new faces into Goodison Park before time runs out.
