Everton are set to take on Liverpool this evening, and Cenk Tosun could be set to lead the line.

Leon Osman has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 5th January, that he would start Cenk Tosun for Everton against Liverpool tonight.

Tosun’s move from Besiktas must be completed by midday for him to be eligible for selection in the FA Cup.

And Osman believes that if Tosun is available to start, then Sam Allardyce should throw him in straight away.

“He looks good. He’s what Everton need,” Osman said. “He looks a big guy, he can score all different types of goals. I’d chuck him straight in. What better way to start than a goal away at Anfield?”

Tosun is expected to improve Everton’s forward options, which have been desperately short so far this season.

The Turkish international has hit eight league goals for Besiktas this term, and Everton hope that he can have a similar impact at Goodison Park.

Tosun has never played in England before, but Sam Allardyce has already admitted that he is under pressure to hit the ground running.

Everton have generally started with Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Oumar Niasse up-front throughout in their fixtures so far this season, but Allardyce appears to have doubts over both leading the line on a long-term basis.

When Everton and Liverpool last met at Anfield the match finished as a 1-1 draw.
