Everton legend Leon Osman has delivered his verdict on the club’s January transfer business and predicted where they could finish this season.

The Toffees spent over £30 million on signing Morgan Schneiderlin from Manchester United and Ademola Lookman from Charlton last month.

Ronald Koeman also retained the services of star players Romelu Lukaku, Ross Berkley and Seamus Coleman who had all been linked with moves away.

The Dutchman also managed to shift some deadwood at Goodison Park with the likes of Darron Gibson and Bryan Oviedo leaving in a double deal to join struggling Sunderland while Tom Cleverley joined Watford.

The Blues are seventh in the Premier League table just past the halfway stage in the season but are nine points off bitter rivals Liverpool in the last Champions League spot.

Despite no deadline day business at Goodison this time around, Koeman’s side maintained their solid recent form with a 1-1 draw against Stoke on Wednesday night.

And now club legend Leon Osman has delivered his verdict on Koeman, his transfer dealings and discussed with Sky Sports News where he thinks the club can finish this season.

West Ham could face having to beg Everton for Enner Valencia back as striker crisis looms

“A bit like Man United, I think Everton just gave themselves bit too much to do,” Osman said on Sky Sports News.

“They’re on a strong run at the minute… they were good in January, but I think a poor run of form from October to December – I think one win in 10 – really made it difficult for Everton.

“But having said that, they’re still seventh in the league, trying to claw back to sixth to secure European football and I think it’s been not too bad a season so far for Ronald Koeman.

“He’s starting to make the team more like his own, the players he’s signing are his players and I think if Everton finish seventh, sixth this season then it will be a reasonably good start to his career at Everton.”
