Leon Osman and Ally McCoist are in agreement about where Arsenal will finish in the Premier League this season.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal finished runners-up in the Premier League last season with Manchester City winning the title on the final day of the season after beating West Ham United 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.

This represented the second time that Arsenal were pipped to the title by City and Arteta will be hoping that it is the third time a charm with the Gunners hoping that this year will be their campaign.

Arsenal have signed Riccardo Calafiori this summer and the Gunners aren’t done there. It seems that Ally McCoist and Leon Osman are expecting big things from the North London club.

Leon Osman on Arsenal’s title prospects

Former Everton midfielder Leon Osman gave his prediction to the Premier League website about who would win the league.

Osman believes that Arsenal will win the league and has even tipped Calafiori to be the man that could help them get over the line.

Left-back has been one of Arsenal’s problems in recent seasons with Oleksandr Zinchenko being inconsistent whilst Takehiro Tomiyasu has had injury problems.

Calfiori can play at centre-back but it seems likely that the Italian will be featuring on the left side of the defence with Gabriel and William Saliba the established centre-back pairing.

The Italian defender joined the Gunners at the end of last month with Arteta praising Calafiori’s leadership as a key reason why he joined the club from Bologna.

Ally McCoist agrees with Osman’s stance

Speaking on talkSPORT (9:40am), McCoist was asked by Jeff Stelling to name who he believes will win the Premier League title.

“I’m going with Arsenal,” the Scotsman said. “The reason I’m doing it is because of the progression of the club, Arteta is doing a wonderful job and they’re a brilliant team to watch.

“I think we’re in for another fantastic season and I just think Arsenal will pip City to the title.”

The Gunners could add Mikel Merino to the squad with Arteta understood to want the Real Sociedad midfielder by this weekend.

Arsenal have to believe they can finally end the 20-year wait for a title and pip Pep Guardiola’s side to the honour come next May.
