Sheffield United striker Leon Clarke has backed the club to achieve back-to-back promotion having hit the ground running since coming up to the Championship.

Last season’s League One winners are currently fourth in the second tier of English football and are looking to emulate Norwich City and Southampton by now going straight on to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

“To achieve something like that again would be incredible,” Clarke told the Sheffield Star. “I feel personally, if we keep going about our work the way we have, we’ll be there or thereabouts come the end.”

The striker has just been named the division’s player of the month after scoring nine goals in four league matches during November.

Clarke is currently the Championship’s topscorer with 13 strikes in total and has been a key part of the Blades’ success so far in 2017/18.

The 32-year-old has already scored more for United this term than he did in the entirety of 2016/17, when he managed nine strikes in 26 games in all competitions.

Clarke will be hoping to increase his tally and help the South Yorkshire side get back to form after failing to win in their last three when they host third-placed Bristol City at Bramall Lane tonight (December 8).
