Leon Bailey has stated on Instagram ‘what a player’ Douglas Luiz is after his showing during Aston Villa’s 2-1 win over Tottenham on Saturday.
Unai Emery’s side, who have won six home games on the bounce, kept their hopes of securing a European finish alive by seeing off an offside-ridden Spurs team.
In the end, Douglas Luiz’s second-half free-kick proved to be the crucial goal because Harry Kane would score from the penalty spot late on.
That strike from Luiz was his second goal against Spurs this season because he also scored in north London back in January when Aston Villa won 2-0.
Added to that, it’s the 25-year-old’s fifth Premier League goal this term, added to his five assists, which is a very good return for a player that is used in a defensive-minded role.
Nonetheless, following Villa’s win over Spurs, Luiz posted about his free-kick goal on his Instagram and Bailey, who provided the assist for the opening goal of the game, stated in the comments section ‘what a player’.

With the 2022/23 campaign coming to an end, the fans are now starting to vote for their Player of the Season.
Last season, it was Matty Cash who won that award, but there is now every chance that Luiz takes that prize this time around.
It’s crazy to think, at the start of the campaign, the Brazil star was sat on the bench and could now win the Supporters Player of the Season, but in truth, that says more about Steven Gerrard than anybody else.
