Don Hutchison has said on BBC Radio 5 Live (8:41pm, September 20, 2021) that Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey would have been a good signing for West Ham United.
Villa signed Bailey from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £25 million.
Former West Ham midfielder Hutchison believes that the 24-year-old Jamaica international winger would have been a good signing for David Moyes’s team.
Hutchison said about Bailey on BBC Radio 5 Live (8:41pm, September 20, 2021): “West Ham would probably have been a good fit for him.”
Did West Ham miss out?
Bailey has a strong reputation in Germany where he was a star at Bayer.
The Jamaica international scored 28 goals in 119 Bundesliga appearances for Bayer.
The 24-year-old has had injury and fitness problems at Villa, but the winger has already made a positive impact at the Villans.

Bailey has scored one goal and provided one assist in 86 minutes in the Premier League for Villa so far this season.
Now, West Ham do have a strong attacking unit, but, like in any other team, there is always room for good players.
Only time will tell if the Hammers will regret not signing Bailey.
Who knows, perhaps West Ham will try to sign the winger in a year or two if he does well at Villa.
