Patryk Klimala enjoyed a very decent cameo for Celtic on Sunday afternoon.
The Hoops thumped Motherwell 3-0 at Parkhead yesterday and the 22-year-old Polish striker had a decent second 45 minutes.
For the second time in a week, Celtic boss Neil Lennon left his £3.5 million forward on the bench and started the game with an un-established number nine spearheading his side’s attack.
Klimala didn’t make it off the bench for the defeat by Ferencvaros on Wednesday, but he did yesterday and looked a threat to Stephen Robinson’s side.
The youngster could and probably should have finished the game with one or two goals, but his all-round contribution seemed to impress Lennon – even if he was ‘really blowing’ toward the end.
Lennon told The Scottish Sun: “Like I said ad nauseum, you can see that they are not fully fit. Patryk did 45 minutes and did well, but was really blowing towards the end.”
With Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths out injured, this was supposed to be Klimala’s time to shine following a low-profile few months after being signed half-way through last season.
But Lennon is right in saying that he clearly isn’t totally match fit, despite featuring heavily during pre-season friendlies.
