Celtic boss Neil Lennon has told the Daily Record that Ismaila Soro has impressed him since he return to pre-season.

Soro joined Celtic in January, but he is still yet to make his debut for the Bhoys.

The 22-year-old struggled to break into Celtic’s first-team upon his arrival, but he was handed a chance in a friendly match against Hibernian at the weekend.

Soro ended up helping Celtic to a 3-1 win in the pre-season contest.

And Lennon has suggested that the youngster has caught his eye since Celtic returned to training, as he has improved considerably.

“Soro did well,” Lennon said.

“I have seen big improvements and he looked good.

“That’s exactly what we want from him. He was very reliable and we want him [Dembele] around the first-team squad this season.

“It’s that time now when he is going to be training with us all the time.

“He’s looking stronger as he goes along and the more he trains with the first team the better he will get.”

Soro will now surely have his eyes on forcing his way into Celtic’s first-team.

The 22-year-old could be hard pushed to break into Celtic’s squad though, as he will be in competition with the likes of Olivier Ntcham, Scott Brown and Callum McGregor for a starting spot.
