Celtic are on the brink of signing Albian Ajeti from West Ham United it seems.
The Hoops have been heavily linked with a move for the Switzerland international over the past month or so.
Read Celtic reported toward the end of July that the Bhoys’ move had been hijacked by an unspecified club, with Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion then linked with signing him.
But it looks like Ajeti did genuinely have other offers on the table, as Sky Sports claim that Parkhead boss Neil Lennon personally convinced him to move to Glasgow.
The report adds that the 23-year-old has passed a medical with the club tonight and that Celtic will sign him in a £5 million permanent deal, as opposed to the loan-to-buy arrangement that was originally planned.
This could and probably does spell the end of their interest in Peterborough United hitman Ivan Toney.
Ajeti, like Toney, is a striker and it just makes no sense to pursue other targets now – unless, of course, Lennon has plans to move on Leigh Griffiths.
If this deal goes through, the Celtic boss will have Odsonne Edouard, Griffiths, Patryk Klimala and Ajeti as striking options, after Vakoun Issouf Bayo joined Toulouse on a season-long loan today.
