Speculation is rife that Tottenham Hotspur want to hire Julian Nagelsmann as their next long-term manager.
According to The Telegraph, the Leipzig boss is Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s number one pick to replace Jose Mourinho.
It’s been a very difficult season for a Tottenham side that sit ninth in the Premier League and nine points adrift in the race for Champions League qualification, which is made all the more disappointing by the fact that they were top of the table as recently as mid-December.
But Markus Krosche, the Bundesliga club’s director of football, has claimed that the 33-year-old Nagelsmann won’t be thinking about a move to North London anytime soon.
He told RB Live: “Julian feels comfortable because he has everything he needs here. The team is developing great. That’s why I see no reason for him to switch – especially since he has a valid contract with us.”
This could yet be a successful season for Tottenham under Mourinho.
They have a League Cup final against Manchester City to come in April and they’ve just qualified for the last 16 of the Europa League with an 8-1 aggregate victory.
Yes, their Premier League form is a major concern, but the Lilywhites could yet qualify for the Champions League by winning Europe’s secondary competition and that prospect might just earn the Portuguese – who won this same tournament with Manchester United four years ago – another shot next season.
