While Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku have received all the plaudits in Everton’s 3-1 win over Burnley on Saturday, Leighton Baines has silently created a fantastic record for himself.
The England left-back has become the first defender to have registered 50 Premier League assists – a remarkable achievement.
The Liverpool-born defender achieved this feat after he set up Romelu Lukaku to score during the game against Burnley at Goodison Park.
The 32-year-old started his senior career with Wigan Athletic before joining Everton in 2007. Since then, he has been the club’s first choice left-back, and has gone on to make 379 appearances (The Mirror) in the division.

Baines has been ever-present for Everton this season, having made 27 Premier League appearances for the club. He has scored two goals and has provided three assists for Ronald Koeman’s side this season.
Interestingly, Baines scores a lot of goals as well, having managed 30 goals in the Premier League which is a really good scoring record for any defender.
