Leighton Baines on new Everton signing Richarlison in training

Richarlison joined Everton earlier this week for £50million from Watford.

Leighton Baines has told Everton’s official website that new signing Richarlison has already showed the kind of quality from last season in his first days of training with The Toffees.

Richarlison, 21, signed a five-year deal with Marco Silva’s side earlier this week, which sees the Brazilian link up with the former Fluminense attacker for a second time after luring him to Watford last summer.

The Brazilian even featured for Everton for 45 minutes of the club’s pre-season friendly against Championship side Blackburn Rovers, coming on for Oumar Niasse at half time during the disappointing 3-0 loss.

Baines was full of praise for the new signing and believes he is already beginning to prove his huge £50million fee in training, and showed plenty of promise in the friendly.

“Today [Thursday night], you have seen glimpses of what he’s about,” Baines said. “He’s got fantastic quality and we’ve seen that last year in the Premier League. We’ve seen that quality in a couple of days training and half a game with us.

“We did a session in the afternoon where we linked up, and I enjoyed that 45 minutes playing with him. He’s always available, he can go alone if needs to but he has an eye for a pass.”

Richarlison’s giant price tag has raised some eyebrows on social media, as Watford raked the millions in despite Richarlison only scoring five Premier League goals last season.

The Brazilian now finds himself in competition with the likes of Theo Walcott, Yannick Bolasie, Ademola Lookman and Nikola Vlasic for a place on the flanks.
