Leigh Griffiths was linked with moves away from Celtic in the January transfer window.
Griffiths has stated that he wants to remain at Celtic, and has also revealed that his representatives are in talks with Celtic over a new deal, with his current contract running out un the summer of 2021, according to Transfermarkt.com.
The Scotland international striker has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since January 2014 when he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers in England for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £1 million.
The 27-year-old striker has scored 97 goals in 177 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops so far in his career, according to the club’s official website.
Griffiths told The Daily Mail: “My representatives are working behind the scenes to try and get me a new deal. I have another two and a half years here, but why would you want to go anywhere else?
“You are playing at a top club with a top manager in front of 50,000 or 60,000 every week. There’s no reason to go anywhere. You have Champions League football every season.”
Great news for fans
Griffiths is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and him remaining at Celtic is great news for the fans.
The Scotsman may have struggled with injuries in recent times, but there is no doubt that he is a quality footballer.
According to The Daily Mail, Sporting Kansas, Swansea and West Brom all wanted to sign Griffiths in the January transfer window.
