Leigh Griffiths says that he could sign a new contract with Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic soon.

Griffiths has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since January 2014 when he joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers in England for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £1 million.
The Scotland international striker has established himself as an important player for Celtic over the years, and the 27-year-old has suggested that he could sign a new deal with Brendan Rodgers’s side soon.

In an interview with The Glasgow Evening Times, Griffiths said: “Talks are still ongoing. My agent just texted me before I came in here, so I’m hoping there will be a bit of news before the season is out.
“I’ve still got two-years left, so I am not sweating over it. I’m still looking to commit my long-term future here but these things are never easy, these things take time.
“We need to iron out every detail but I’m hoping it’ll be done before the season is out. I’m happy with my football here, when I am playing and scoring goals there is no place I’d rather be.”

Good decision for club and player
Griffiths, who earns £18,000 per week as salary according to The Daily Star, has had injury issues this season, but the Scotland international striker has still scored some important goals and has played his part for Celtic this season.
It would make sense for Celtic to keep hold of the former Wolves star, who is only 27 years of age and is going strong at the moment.
