Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glasgow Rangers are challenging Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title this season.

Ibrox club Rangers have made a good start to the season and are looking quite strong defensively under manager Gerrard.
The Gers have actually picked up a point more than Old Firm rivals Celtic have in the Scottish Premiership so far this season.
Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have already lost a game in the league this season, and it does look like Rangers will give the Hoops a run for their money.
Celtic striker Griffiths – who earns £18,000 per week as salary, according to The Daily Star – has admitted that the Bhoys need to be wary of the challenge posed by Rangers in the Scottish Premiership.
Chris Davies, Celtic assistant manager, has also given his take on Rangers challenging them for the league title this season.
Griffiths told BBC Sport about the challenge from Rangers: “We need to be on our toes. They’ve started well, it’s a long season and we’ll embrace the challenge. We’ve got a great squad here and we look forward to it.”
Davies told The Daily Record about Rangers’ challenge: “I have not really been looking at them and thinking about Rangers.
“They can do what they want. As long as we’re the best we can be and stay focused – and we have a lot of hunger to do that.”

Game on
Rangers have finished third in each of the past two seasons, and there was a feeling right from the start that the Gers will not be able to sustain their challenge.
This term, though, things are looking very different, and Griffiths’s aforementioned comments underline just how seriously the Celtic players are taking Rangers and speak volumes about how far the Gers have come.
