Leigh Griffiths praises Celtic teammate Odsonne Edouard

Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard has rivalled Leigh Griffiths for the striking place in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Leigh Griffiths has told the Scottish Sun that Celtic’s players all knew about Odsonne Edouard’s talent, before the supporters did.

Edouard was brought to Celtic from PSG in the summer transfer window, but he initially made a slow start at Parkhead.

The rapid forward struggled in his initial appearances for the Bhoys, and then was kept in reserve by Brendan Rodgers.

However, a hat-trick against Motherwell seemed to turn Edouard’s season around, with the French forward now playing an important role for the Bhoys.

And Griffiths says that Celtic’s players have all been impressed by Edouard’s performances in training.

“Odsonne was a bit under the radar at first when he came here,” Griffiths said.

“But he showed what he could do with a hat-trick against Motherwell.

“Everyone sat up and took notice then, but we knew from the training pitch what a good talent he is.”

Grifttihs has been in direct competition with Edouard for a place up-front in Celtic’s side.

Whether the PSG loanee will be in Glasgow next season remains to be seen though.

Celtic can buy Edouard for a set price, but whether Rodgers will want to keep him for the long-term remains to be seen.
