The Scottish Premiership side meet Rangers at Hampden Park in the last four clash.
Leigh Griffiths has suggested that Patrick Roberts will have a key role to play when Celtic take on Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-final this weekend, The Scottish Sun reports.
The Hoops meet their Old Firm rivals on Sunday with the winner earning a place in the final against either Dundee United or Hibernian. And Griffiths suggested that the winger on loan from Manchester City could be crucial to the side’s hopes of progressing.
“Patrick just keeps going at guys and you can see that the lad has so much talent. He is creating opportunities with the way he plays and that can only be a good thing,” he told The Scottish Sun.
Roberts showed exactly what he could do in the recent win over Hearts where he scored two excellent goals in the 3-1 victory, and he followed that up by using his skill to win a penalty during the Hoops’ game with Motherwell.
And with Rangers’ defence having gone through much of the campaign having not been tested too often, he will be hoping to use his talent to ask questions that Mark Warburton’s side have not been forced to answer on many occasions this season.
With the Gers running away with the Scottish Championship title, and with their full-backs contributing over 20 goals between them in all competitions, Roberts’ role will surely be to keep himself high up the field to ensure that their opponents cannot get too carried away going forward as he will be ready to punish them by exploiting any gaps they leave.
