Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths will not play for the Hoops in their Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland in midweek, according to The Scottish Sun.

What’s the story?

The Scottish Sun are reporting tonight (10:30pm) that Celtic striker Griffiths has not travelled with the rest of the team to Denmark to play Midtjylland this week.

The 30-year-old striker has been left behind in Glasgow for the second leg of the Champions League Second Round Qualifier.

Why?

Because the former Wolverhampton Wanderers striker has a calf problem.

It is being reported that Griffiths picked up yet another calf injury in training.

The 30-year-old was part of the first-team squad during the final training session on Monday.

However, Griffiths complained of a calf injury, and he has now been left behind in Scotland.

Blow for Celtic

Griffiths has not been in great form for Celtic for a while now and there have also been fitness issues, but at least he would have been an option for manager Ange Postecoglou in Denmark.

The Scotland international reportedly being out of Wednesday’s game means that Celtic now have only two strikers, Odsonne Edouard and Albian Ajeti, available for selection.

The first leg of the qualifier ended in a 1-1 draw at Celtic Park last week.
