Does Odsonne Edouard’s reported injury for Celtic favour Leigh Griffiths?

If rumours are to be believed, Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is injured.

The Record reported on Friday that he would miss this afternoon’s visit of Partick Thistle and the first leg of Celtic’s Europa League playoff with Suduva on Thursday with a hamstring issue.

It isn’t exactly what the Hoops need at such a difficult in time, in light of Dedryck Boyata’s transfer situation and Brendan Rodgers’s side being eliminated from the Champions League in midweek.

Edouard’s injury might, however, give Leigh Griffiths the chance to remind Celtic fans – and indeed Rodgers – of the fact that he is a superb goalscorer.

Moussa Dembele has only returned from injury himself and therefore the Northern Irish manager should be planning to start Griffiths in both games, if he only plays one up front.

This is a player who scored 40 goals during the 2015-16 campaign and yet he is arguably Celtic’s third-choice striker, behind the two French boys.

But the Scottish marksman, who earns £18,000 per week at Parkhead [The Star], could have a glorious chance to send a big message to Rodgers over the next 10 days, and it’s very important that he takes these opportunities with both hands if they come his way.
