Leigh Griffiths only came on as a substitute as Celtic beat Rangers, with Brendan Rodgers leaving the striker on the bench again.
Griffiths was left out, with Moussa Dembele preferred by Brendan Rodgers, from the off.
Griffiths did come off the bench in the latter stages of Celtic’s 4-0 success, but he was once again consigned to a role as a substitute.
And Griffiths now admits that his task is to break into Celtic’s team over the remainder of the season.
“It’s disappointing but it’s part and parcel of football, the manager has a difficult job as it is to pick 18 players,” Griffiths said.
“It’s not just me on the bench, there are other big names as well and there’s guy who are in the stand.
“You just have to wait your turn.”
Dembele scored from the spot as Celtic smashed Rangers, and could retain his place as Rodgers’ side main striker as a result.
Griffiths has had a difficult season so far, as he has generally had to play a reserve role.
The 27-year-old has made just 10 league starts for the Bhoys, but he has insisted that he wants to stick around at Parkhead.
Griffiths’ task of staying in Celtic’s team could be made easier next season too, as Dembele may well depart in the summer transfer window, with Premier League interest in the striker mounting.
