Leicester City supporters on Twitter were left unimpressed with Ayoze Perez’s performance on his return to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
Perez, who left St James’ Park for the King Power Stadium in the summer, started the League Cup encounter, which was won on penalties by Brendan Rodgers side.
The 26-year-old started the encounter and he received a rough reception upon his return to the North East, which seemingly affected his performance.
He ended up playing the full match, but when it came to penalties, he didn’t take one, but his teammates did the job, with Jamie Vardy netting the decisive spot-kick.
Nonetheless, Leicester supporters were critical of how Perez performed on the night and how he has performed since he joined the club.
It seems as though he is yet to get going, but with Brendan Rodgers side starting off the season in a strong fashion, he will want to quickly bounce off their positive momentum.
Perez will be coming up against his former club again next month before he makes a second return to Newcastle on New Year’s Day – both Premier League encounters.
