Tottenham Hotspur are hoping to keep Toby Alderweireld.

It’s remarkable already that no team has paid Toby Alderweireld’s £25 million release clause already.
Tottenham Hotspur are in for a long summer, despite the defender’s claims he is fully focused on next season at the club.
Decisions being made by fellow Premier League clubs are putting Spurs’ hopes of retaining him in jeopardy further.
Teamtalk report Leicester City have placed a £85 million price tag on Harry Maguire.
It’s a ludicrously high figure, and enough to put Manchester United off.

United are Tottenham’s biggest threat to sign Alderweireld, with The Sun reporting the Red Devils plan to activate his release clause.
Alderweireld is just four years older than Maguire. Both are experienced, international, centre-backs, who won’t need any adjustment to the Premier League.
If Tottenham had any say in it, they would be hiking Alderweireld’s price up too. But their release clause means they can’t.
Leicester choosing to halve their asking price and selling Maguire to United would get Tottenham off the hook. But it doesn’t seem likely at all.
United only need one. And the best option is obvious.
