Leicester City have approached Chelsea to discuss a late permanent transfer for Callum Hudson-Odoi, but the winger is likely to stay at Stamford Bridge, according to the Express.

Thomas Tuchel is loath to see the England international leave west London before Tuesday night’s deadline passes. Hudson-Odoi is at the heart of strong interest from the Bundesliga, with Borussia Dortmund extremely keen on his services.

BVB want to sign Hudson-Odoi on loan without an option or obligation to buy the Chelsea product next summer. Talks have taken place between the two Champions League outfits over a potential deal, but Tuchel will block any transfer.

Tuchel refuses to give up on Hudson-Odoi just yet, despite not awarding him any Premier League minutes this season. The German instead opting to leave the 20-year-old on the bench for each of the Blues’ opening three fixtures. Despite the three-cap international opening the UEFA Super Cup against Villarreal, before making way for Cesar Azpilicueta.

Leicester made efforts to potentially rival Borussia Dortmund in any last-ditch race for the transfer of Chelsea winger Hudson-Odoi. But unlike their German challenger, Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes sought to agree a permanent transfer for the £120,000-per-week dynamo.

But the King Power Stadium natives’ efforts were likely short-lived given Tuchel’s stance. And Hudson-Odoi will likely remain at Stamford Bridge beyond Deadline Day this Tuesday.

Will Leicester rue Tuchel blocking Chelsea exit for Hudson-Odoi?

While Tuchel is seemingly blocking Hudson-Odoi from leaving Chelsea, Leicester should still strengthen Rodgers’ wings on Deadline Day. Sky Sports report Ademola Lookman is almost bound for the East Midlands, with the Foxes closer to agreeing on terms with RB Leipzig.

Leicester are still to agree a fee for the Englishman, who spent last season on loan with Fulham. Lookman is also keen to move to the King Power, but the Foxes are ready to look elsewhere if Leipzig do not lower their demands. Potentially, Hudson-Odoi was one.

But Rodgers is unlikely to unleash Hudson-Odoi in Leicestershire anytime soon. With Tuchel likely depriving the Leicester boss of a player he considers ‘fantastic’, via BBC Sport. And one that Mason Mount believes is capable of delivering an attacking spark in games.

“We all know what Callum can do and he came on and brought that spark,” Mount told the Chelsea website. “He’s very good one-on-one and we just have to get him the ball going one-on-one and try to create chances.”
