Having seen a reported bid for Jonny Evans batted away, Leicester City should be considering his former Manchester United team-mate Chris Smalling.

Leicester City have had a £10million bid for West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans rejected, according to Sky Sports.
Since leaving Manchester United two years ago, Evans has excelled for Tony Pulis’ side and it comes as no surprise that West Brom will not entertain the prospect of selling their best defender to a direct Premier League rival.

Such a substantial bid suggests Leicester are keen to bring in another defender, though, despite the imminent signing of Hull City’s Harry Maguire – according to the BBC – for £17m.
The Foxes look to be refreshing their back-line after relying on 2015-16 champions Wes Morgan and Robert Huth last season.
One option they should consider turning to also boasts a Premier League medal as a former United team-mate of Evans.

Chris Smalling appears to have been made available following Victor Lindelof’s arrival at Old Trafford, with the Independent reporting interest from Everton, Newcastle United and West Ham United.
A swoop from Leicester would be very ambitious and, coupled with the big-money Maguire deal, would show their intention to avoid a relegation battle next season.
An experienced England international and a good athlete, Smalling’s signature would prove a major coup for any side outside the top six.
