Leicester City have not signed an attacking player in this transfer window yet, but they could improve their standing with the Everton star.

Craig Shakespeare is learning about the transfer window all the time, and while he hasn’t brought in a striker or attacking midfielder yet, Leicester fans might be hoping for a few new exciting options soon.

One ambitious option to move for could be Ross Barkley, who has been linked with a move away from Goodison, as reported by the Daily Telegraph.

Everton have announced that Ross Barkley has just undergone a groin operation, and will be recovering over the next four weeks. This could put some clubs off that have been linked with the attacking midfielder and Tottenham Hotspur’s interest may already be wavering, according to the Mirror.

A Leicester City move would be a surprise given some of the other clubs Barkley has been linked to, but with nothing happening with those links and with Leicester proving their ambition earlier in the summer with a reported £40 million bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson (Leicester Mercury), this is understandably a different, more ambitious Foxes team than existed a couple of years ago.

Leicester may also be due a windfall as they hold out for £50 million for Riyad Mahrez, according to the Mirror, money which could be ploughed straight back into the side.

Barkley would certainly be an upgrade to Leicester City’s squad, even if he missed the first few games of the season. He is good enough to be a regular starter having played in 36 games for Everton last season.

Barkley is a player who many believe should play for a top four side, buy why join one of them only to spend most of his time on the bench?

If he went to Leicester, he could become a key figure that was the centrepiece of Craig Shakespeare’s side, the focal point for the Foxes to open teams up.

Barkley would undeniably be a positive player for them, if they could jump ahead of Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Manchester City, who currently top the SkyBet transfer roster for the England international.
