Leicester City are stepping up their summer transfer plans with reports naming Southampton captain Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Vitesse Arnhem left-back Max Clark as targets for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Foxes have enjoyed a 2019/20 season to remember.

While they might fall some way short of repeating that sporting miracle of four years ago, Leicester are all-but certain to be playing Champions League football for just the second time in their history sooner rather than later.

So, with the Midland giants looking to compete on two fronts next time around, Rodgers will be keen to enhance his squad with quantity and quality.

A new left-back is expected to be high on the agenda, regardless of whether Ben Chillwell stays or goes.

Clark, a Yorkshire-born 24-year-old who has impressed since leaving Hull City for Holland, could be heading back to Britain though he does not exactly feel like a readymade replacement for an £80 million-rated England international (Mail).

Speaking to The Times recently, Clark admitted that he sees Liverpool’s Andy Robertson as inspiration, though he has a long way to go before he proves himself at the top end of the Premier League like Jurgen Klopp’s fiery Scotsman.

Leicester are also in the race to sign Denmark midfielder Hojbjerg, with The Times reporting that Southampton have slapped a £35 million price-tag on the head of their influential skipper.

The prospect of Hojbjerg, who has just one year left on his contract, forming a partnership with Wilfried Ndidi and James Maddison should have Foxes fans everywhere drooling at the mouth.
