According to a report from Marca, Leicester City are among the clubs interested in signing Barcelona star Luis Suarez this summer.

The Uruguayan has been told by new Barca boss Ronald Koeman that he is no longer in his plans. Suarez is expected to leave the Camp Nou this summer and his relationship with Brendan Rodgers could potentially reunite the duo.

Suarez thrived under Rodgers during their time together at Liverpool. The Uruguayan played 81 times under the current Leicester boss, scoring 61 goals and providing 32 assists in all competitions in that period.

93 direct goal involvements in 81 games is an outstanding record and it is no surprise that Barcelona decided to spend £75 million on the striker back in the summer of 2014. (BBC)

A couple of years after that, when Rodgers joined Celtic, Suarez paid tribute to his former boss, calling him one of the best coaches in Europe.

He was quoted by Liverpool Echo saying: “He is one of the best coaches in Europe and I am not surprised he is looking to get back into the game because it is a game he loves.

“I am glad he has taken his time since leaving Liverpool. He should only be looking at the top jobs, with the top clubs, who will be playing Champions League football. If it was not for Brendan, then I know I would not be the same player that you see at Barcelona today.”

Suarez became just as big a star at Barcelona as he was at Liverpool, if not bigger. The former Ajax man is the third-highest scorer in the Catalan club’s history and it is surprising that they want him gone.

He struggled with injuries last season and even then, he managed to score 21 goals and provide 12 assists in all competitions. A combination of Jamie Vardy and Suarez would be among the deadliest in the league but Leicester and Rodgers will have to fight off a number of clubs to get him this summer.
