The former Leicester City star was close to a trial with Celtic.

Well, Celtic won’t be signing Danny Simpson this summer.
The former Leicester City right-back was supposed to have a trial at Lennoxtown this week after being released by the Premier League side, where he won the title in 2016.
But Celtic boss Neil Lennon confirmed on Tuesday that the plug was pulled on that idea after a deal for right-back Hatem Abd Elhamed was on the brink of being completed, which it now has been.
One Hoops fan sarcastically tweeted Simpson this week and said that he would be ‘forever in our hearts’ despite the failed transfer.
The 32-year-old, who spent five years at Leicester, played along with the joke and responded with a shamrock emoji, before some fans of the King Power club responded and said he was too good for the Bhoys.
Simpson’s wages might’ve been another issue if he was to join Celtic.
According to Spotrac, the former Manchester United youth was earning £45,000 per week at Leicester, and it seems unlikely that the Hoops were willing to pay him anywhere near that amount if they demanded that he do a trial first.
