Leicester City fans have, unsurprisingly, taken to Twitter to celebrate Claudio Ranieri’s men’s win over Club Brugge which has guaranteed that they will qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League as winners of Group G.

The Foxes put their disappointing spell in the Premier League behind them – their title defence has started poorly with just two points separating them from the bottom three following their defeat to Watford at the weekend – to overcome the Belgian side at the King Power Stadium.

It took Leicester just five minutes to open the scoring as Shinji Okazaki scored his fourth goal of the season with a great finish into the top corner.

And the Foxes doubled their lead on the half-hour mark as Riyad Mahrez scored from the penalty spot after Marc Albrighton had been brought down.

Though Jose Izquierdo would reply with arguably the best goal of the game for the away side seven minutes into the second-half, Leicester held on to claim the three points that secured top spot with one game in this phase still to play.

And the supporters were quick to take to social media following the game to celebrate the achievement, with some pointing out, once again, just how far they have come over the last few years.
