Craig Shakespeare looks on prior to the Premier League match between AFC Bournemouth and Leicester City.
Puel has been without a job since being axed by Southampton over the summer, despite guiding them to eighth in the Premier League and to the League Cup final.
Claude Puel looks on during the Premier League match between Southampton and Stoke City.
However, despite their final league position the Saints were actually only six points off Watford in 17th place after losing 16 of their 38 matches.
It is believed Puel has made a positive impression on the Foxes hierarchy after being one of several candidates interviewed for the vacant position at the King Power Stadium.
Despite a limited reputation in English football, the Frenchman has won the Ligue 1 title with Monaco, was named manager of the year in 2005 during his time with Lille, guided Lyon to the Champions League semi-finals, and was praised for rebuilding Nice’s reputation.
That does not mean that the Leicester fans don’t have mixed feelings about the fact Puel is likely to be the next man in charge of their club, though.
