It may not come as too much of a shock to find out that Leicester City’s five best signings, according to HITC Sport, all have title medals.

As the January transfer window begins to hot up, HITC Sport takes a look at Leicester City’s five best signings since the start of the Premier League era…

5. Kasper Schmeichel

Kasper Schmeichel’s arrival at Leicester in 2011 was met with plenty of surprise, but only because Leeds fans could not believe the Whites had allowed him to move on. And it is safe to say that the decision has not been vindicated since. The stopper has been sensational since joining the Foxes, and played every single game as Claudio Ranieri’s men won the league title. At 30, he should only get better which is alarming given that he is already considered to be one of the Premier League’s best.

4. Riyad Mahrez

The Algerian has provided plenty of moments of magic since joining Leicester in 2014. His tally of 17 league goals was a key reason behind their title win. If this list was compiled in a couple of years time, and Mahrez maintains his best form, it would be extremely likely that he would ranked higher.

3. N’Golo Kante

The midfielder was just as influential during the title win as Mahrez, but he simply ranks higher as a better signing due to the fact that Leicester made a profit of over £26 million when they sold him to Chelsea last summer (via Sky Sports). The fact that the Blues are now top while Leicester are struggling hints that Kante’s performances were more important than people intially realised.

2. Wes Morgan

In terms of bargain signings, few compare to the £1 million that Leicester spent on Wes Morgan in 2012 (via Daily Mail). The centre-back has played almost every league game that he has been available for, including all 38 during their title-winning season. The captain galvanised the squad completely last term and probably deserves credit for keeping the squad grounded as they got closer and closer to the title.

When Jamie Vardy was plucked from Fleetwood Town in 2012, few would have anticipated that he would end up with a Premier League title medal and the Premier League record for scoring in 11 league games in a row. The idea that he cost Leicester just £1 million (via Sky Sports) is incredible.
