Leicester City are reportedly ready to let Ahmed Musa leave in 2018.
According to The Mirror, Leicester City are ready to cash in on 2016 signing Ahmed Musa – and one club who should be interested are Celtic.
The Foxes pursued Musa long-term before finally landing him from CSKA Moscow in the summer of 2016, paying a then-club-record fee of £16million to sign him, as reported by BBC Sport.
With 54 goals in 164 games for CSKA, Musa had earned a reputation as one of the most exciting forwards in Europe, possessing blistering pace to terrify defenders – but he has failed to impress with Leicester.
Musa scored just four times in 29 appearances last season, and with no Premier League outings to his name this season, the writing is on the wall for the forward.
The Mirror claim that Leicester may let Musa go in January, with Claude Puel keen to re-tool his squad – and if available, Celtic should be eyeing up a major move for him in January.
The Bhoys spent a large chunk of the summer attempting to find a pacey forward who could play out wide or up front, but deadline day signing Odsonne Edouard has yet to impress since his move from Paris Saint-Germain.
If manager Brendan Rodgers has money to spend in January, and still wants a player to fill that specific role, then 25-year-old Musa would be ideal, as he still has untapped potential from his time with Leicester.
Celtic may need a major price crash in order to afford to buy Musa, but with Hull City linked with a loan move, a temporary stay in Glasgow could work for the Bhoys, offering Musa a chance to get his career back on track.
Rodgers already has great pace in Scott Sinclair and Moussa Dembele, but with Edouard struggling and Patrick Roberts heading back to Manchester City at the end of the season, Musa should be on Celtic’s radar as a possible January target.
