Leicester City are not doing to well with their title defence, but it is a different story in the Champions League.
Leicester City stunned the world last season when they won the Premier League, but few expected they would be able to replicate last season’s form this time out.
It has been tough in the Premier League, but their debut in the Champions league could not be going any better.
Here is the story to Leicester’s season so far in pictures:
Hull City’s Robert Snodgrass scores their second goal
The Foxes title defence got off to the worst possible start. Claudio Ranieri’s men were beaten 2-1 by a Hull City side that had no permanent manager and had brought in zero new signings.
Robert Snodgrass’ strike decided the game, bringing Leicester’s honeymoon to an emphatic end.
Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy celebrates scoring their first goal
A return to the King Power Stadium seemingly gave Leicester’s season lift off.
One of their heroes last year was Jamie Vardy, and he got his first league goal of the season against Swansea, helping his side to a 2-1 victory over the Swans.
Liverpool’s Adam Lallana scores their third goal
The first big test for the Champions came at Anfield where they were put to the sword by Jurgen Klopp’s rock and roll football.
The Foxes were hammered 4-1, with England international Adam Lallana scoring the pick of the bunch.
Leicester City’s Marc Albrighton celebrates with team mates after scoring their first goal
While Leicester received a reality check in the league, they were still dreaming as they made their debut in the Champions League.
It could not have gone much better for Ranieri and co, who beat Club Brugge 3-0 in their first ever game in Europe’s elite competition.
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba scores their fourth goal
European highs and domestic lows have been the theme of Leicester’s season so far.
The Champions hit Old Trafford where they were met with a rampant Manchester United side. Jose Mourinho’s Red Devils were 4-0 up at half time, with Demarai Gray grabbing a consolation.
Leicester were solid at the back last season, but there are now huge holes in their defence.
Leicester City’s Islam Slimani celebrates scoring their first goal
Former Champions League winners Porto proved to be the Foxes toughest test in their group, but it ended up being another dream night under the floodlights at the King Power Stadium.
Summer signing Islam Slimani had an eye for goals against Porto back in Portugal, and continued the tradition at his new club, scoring the only goal to make it two wins out of two for Leicester.
Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante and Leicester City’s Danny Drinkwater hug as Daniel Amartey looks on at full time
The big summer casualty at Leicester was that of N’Golo Kante, who headed to Chelsea.
His presence has been sorely missed, with Leicester missing his infectious energy and ability to reclaim possession in the middle of the park. Kante met his former club at Stamford Bridge, and the Frenchman was the one celebrating as Chelsea ran out 3-0 winners.
Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez scores their first goal
Leicester’s response to defeat at Chelsea was another Champions League win.
Riyad Mahrez scored the only goal of the game against Copenhagen to make it nine points out of a possible nine. The Foxes drew 0-0 in the reverse fixture, putting them on the brink of reaching the next round without even conceding a goal.
West Bromwich Albion’s Matt Phillips scores their second goal
Inconsistency continued however, with another Premier League loss occurring for Leicester.
This time it was West Brom who took all three points from the Champions, who have just 12 points after 11 games, leaving them 14th place and just two points above the relegation zone.
